Visiting Viherpaja

Corylus avellana ‘Contorta’ – peikonpähkinä – trollhassel

I was out trying to score some herbs on Saturday; I’m being literal: I was looking for Thyme, Rosemary and other herbs for the windowsill, it’s surprisingly hard to find nice ones before the season starts. Viherpaja though, had some good ones, and once you are there you just can’t miss their Japanese Garden.

The Japanes Garden is entirely indoors. This is gives you a chance to admire some beauties that just aren’t hardy enough for Finland and you get to see them flower before the season really starts outdoors. On Saturday the cherries were just starting to bloom, the Japanese maples were just about to burst into leaf and the catkins on the hazel were fantastic.

Those are not clouds in the sky – it is snow on the roof. – Ei mitään pilviä taivaalla, vain lunta katolla .- Inga moln på himlen – bara snö på taket.

I’m quite familiar with Viherpaja and it’s Japanes Garden. It’s the place where I had my first gardening job and I’ve even spent some time weeding and cleaning in the Japanese garden. It was really a tranquil treat to work there 🙂

I'am a marketing and gardening professional and I plan to blog about garden photography (with an amateur’s perspective on it), gardens, plants, most things even vaguely garden related and garden trips around the world.
