I Made a Gardening Magazine
As you might have seen in the masthead carousel, I added a link to a gardening magazine that I made for my gardening society Blomsterodlingensvänner i Finland rf. It has been keeping me busy, so the development of this site has been on the down low. But, it has been fun to do some new things and develop other skills. There are a lot of my pictures and text in the magazine and all the layout and technical solutions are by me, but of course a few other talented speakers, writers and photographers contributed. Garden Glory
Garden Glory or to be more exact Gloria Garden (in Finnish: Gloria puutarha), the magazine, was published today. The Glory part is that the magazine features 34 pages by me and my colleague and fantastic garden photographer Hanna Marttinen! There is a 10 page story about me and my kitchen garden and 3 other stories about some really interesting gardens and gardeners. I really recommend buying an issue 😉 Tänään ilmestyi upouusi ja hieno Gloria puutarha-lehti. Garden Style
I was recently asked to be in the Finnish fashion magazine Gloria, in a feature where different people present their own style. Naturally a lot of my style, in the way I dress and decorate, has been influenced by my gardening interest. Mostly I’d say in terms of color, but perhaps also in terms of a certain stark simplicity that I appreciate in various objects. Gardens Illustrated has Gone Commercial
The new cover in the middle, two old quite un-commercial favorites on each side, the one on the right is from before BBC took over. Gardens Illustrated has Gone Commercial…. But only in comparison to itself. Gardens Illustrated is another one of my absolute favorite gardening magazines besides Garden Design. Gardens Illustrated started out in gardening a little before me, my first issue seems to be the 1996/1997 December January issue, nr 23. Within a year of reading it I was a subscriber. Recent slightly disappointing covers and the new one on the right. I got a bit bewildered surfing the net the other day, I was quite certain I was going to the Garden Design magazines web site but when I got there I had a bit of whoa-moment before I realized I was in the right place, but Garden Design had done themselves a bit of a makeover.
