Winter Backlash
Despite some snowdrops and crocus flowering there is still a lot of snow and right now it’s even snowing a bit more. It’s awful, I’m really longing for spring. I’m consoling myself with some of my small seedlings and a few flowering things in the greenhouse. Galanthomania Now
Finally! Today the first snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) appeared through the snow. It was sunny earlier today and that is how the snowdrops broke through the snow. I already found them in around ten different spots in the garden. Now I’ll just have to wait for some sunlight and try and follow my own advice on photographing them. These pics are a little dull, but they show snowdrops!! Vihdoinkin! Tänään ensimmäiset lumikellot (Galanthus nivalis) kurkottivat lumen läpi. En päässyt kuvaamaan aurinkoisen aikaan ja joudun tutustumaan uudelleen omiin neuvoihini, mutta jo tänään pääsin kuvaamaan lumikelloja kymmenessä eri paikassa! Äntligen! Camera gardening – a start
Welcome to my blog! To begin with the masthead features (from left to right): A small cupped narcissi which’s name I’ve forgotten, some white Pulsatilla vulgaris, an Erythronium I found in my Grandmother’s garden, a Plagioreghma dubia, Anemonopsis macrophylla and a white/pink Cypripedium reginae with Cypripedium ‘Ulla Silkens’ in the background. -HA Edit: 22nd November 2014: the new masthead shows a small cupped narcissi, the same Erythronium (probably a white Erythronium dens-canis) and on the right side of the title Anemonopsis macrophylla and a white/pink Cypripedium reginae.
